school’s out!!!

woo hoo! it’s officially summertime, and the 100 degree weather today proves it. school ended yesterday. it was about time! so, now i have 2 high school students. clayton is a senior and hunter is a freshman. wow.

now, what to do all summer? oh, i know, PLAY! isn’t that what summer is for? well, hunter and i will also be learning spanish. we have a 6 week class at saddleback college starting july 7. so, i guess for us school is only out for 2 weeks. what a great 2 weeks it will be!

clayton is looking to start his computer business. he can fix problems, install hardware, edit movies, create slideshows, and just about anything else computer-related. so, if you need some help, call him!

i’ll work on figuring out how to post pictures on this here blog.

happy summer!

all-time favorite books

A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle (childhood favorite)

The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas

Persuasion by Jane Austen

i wasn’t much of a reader until i became a grown-up. actually i started reading a lot more at about the age of 30. i saw the movie “Sense and Sensibility” and absolutely fell in love with it. then i bought the book and loved it even more. then i continued to read jane austen novels and “Persuasion” became my favorite of hers. as a kid, i read a few books and luckily i stumbled upon “A Wrinkle in Time” at the public library.  i felt like i’d found a best friend. i have read it many times and at least once to each of my boys. “The Count of Monte Cristo” was another one i got interested in after seeing the movie. i saw the first 2 hours on tv (the one with gerard depardieu) and missed the rest, so i bought the book. i started with the abridged version and then the complete version. don’t bother with the abridged. the whole story is so much better. i loved how edmond got his revenge. he never hurt anyone physically. he took away the things that meant the most to them. amazing story.

so, there you go. i’ll figure out how to make a list of other books i’ve read and enjoyed and i’ll post that later.

blog title

i’m not really excited about my blog title. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. i was thinking about making it long and obnoxious like dougkellynickclaytonhunter. what do you think? or, just boring, like “the andersens”. what a snoozer. get those thinking caps on and send me your ideas. thanks!
